Doubling

Virtual body doubling sessions take place on Zoom and are formatted as two 25-minute work sprints with a 5-minute break in between.

What is Body Doubling?

Body doubling is a productivity hack commonly used by individuals with attention-related challenges, such as ADHD. Body doubling, or co-working, is the practice of working alongside someone else, either in person or virtually, to increase focus and accountability. You don't interact with each other (much), but just knowing that someone else is there can help you focus!

There's no commitment and never an obligation to attend. The idea is that I'll host these sessions on a regular basis so you can pop in if you have something to work on and would like the support of a body double to get it done.

What to Expect

  • Sessions are added to my public calendar as they are scheduled (usually 1-2 weeks at a time).

  • At the scheduled time, we'll login to Zoom, and I'll welcome folks to introduce themselves and say what they're going to work on (out loud, in the chat, or not at all) - about 5 minutes.

  • I'll screen share a timer. We'll work for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break to check in on progress, work for another 25 minutes, and then wrap up with folks (optionally) saying whether they did what they were hoping to do.

  • Everything is optional, including having your camera on. You can quietly come and go as you need to throughout the session. You don't have to do "work" work - housework, hobbies, etc. are valid!
